Penclawdd Primary School Mini London Marathon

This week led by our Healthy Heroes our children from N-Y6 had the opportunity to participate in the Mini London Marathon. Classes had the choice to use the rugby field ,the yards or the gym . Each class decided on their route, calculated the number of laps and kept a count of their total.  The children aimed for 2.6 miles of walking, jogging, running or 26 minutes of continuous exercise. Our younger children were able to space their mini marathon over the day, go out several times or take a few days to hit the 2.6 miles. Our Healthy Heroes, who blew the whistle ,will be sending an email to Mini London Marathon of our total number of children who have entered.

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Rights of the child : April 2024 - Article 24 - Right to food, water and medical care

Welcome back to what will be a busy term.  Let's hope the weather warms and dries up!

I am pleased to inform parents that this week we underwent a Fire Inspection.  This was carried out by the Mid and West Wales Fire Service along with Health and Safety executives from the council.  We had excellent feedback which is good to know, as our procedures and protocols are being adhered to, and most importantly keeping everyone safe ,should we ever have a fire.

    🎪Community events🎪

On behalf of Dean Mason - Chair Gowerton SummerFun committee

As part of the community events being arranged for this summer by the Gowerton SummerFun committee, A&S Animal Encounters are coming to the Summer outdoor market at the Commercial Hotel in Gowerton on Sunday 5th May.

A&S Animal encounters use a variety of animal species including Meerkats, Raccoons, Coatimundi, Burmese Pythons, Bosc Monitors, Tarantulas and many more amazing animal species. Their workshops are interactive, fun and educational allowing young people to have a greater knowledge of exotic species.

There will be two sessions which are limited to 30 children each and take place inside the Commercial. The first starting at 10.00am and the second starting at 11.00am. The sessions will be tailored for children aged 3 to 11 and entry will be free of charge. A maximum of one adult is allowed with each child. Places can be booked on a first come, first served basis by contacting Dean Mason on dbmason@btinternet.com. Please state your child's name, date of birth and the name of any accompanying adult.

Also attending the market for two hours (between 11.00am and 1.00pm) will be Organised Kaos. An outline of what they provide is below.

Organised KAOS is a contemporary Welsh Circus Company transforming lives and creating opportunities in the Valleys of South-West Wales.Through outreach, regular classes, events and festivals our trainers continue to Keep Adolescents Off the Streets and develop pathways for local Welsh talent.

Again, there will be an interactive element to the activities they demonstrate. Numbers are not limited to attend, so there is no need to book in advance.
