Spring 2024

Spring 2024!!
Another term has whizzed by! As we approach the end of our Spring term, here is a snippet of what we have been getting up to during our very busy mornings in Nursery, Dosbarth Pengwins 🐧. I’m proud to say that children have been leading the learning this term and what a difference it has made! To see the children’s interests spark at difference times has been wonderful.

We have seen a huge increase of interest in writing this term! We have been making lists, writing letters, making cards and sometimes the children have just wanted to practise their handwriting! The children are so eager to learn to write their names so we have been working on fine motor skills, scissors skills and holding a pencil correctly. We are so proud of how far the children have progressed - all at their own pace.

The mathematical language that we have been immersed in this term is fantastic! We often cook which lends us to have conversations about weight and numbers. The children know what ingredients are needed for cake and biscuit making! Yum! We have had many conversations about height - tallest and shortest. These conversations have come during some wonderful imaginative play whereby the children make tiger dens, zoos and farms out of shapes, wooden blocks or cardboard.

The confidence of the children has soared this term! They all absolutely love to sing and dance! Which I adore! Each pupil is accessing the role play areas at different time throughout the day and have the confidence to play together in their own imaginative world. To hear the conversations that they have together is really heart warming. We have chefs, mummy’s  and daddy’s, doctors and nurses, teachers, bus drivers, pilots! The list is endless!

Rydyn ni’n dwli ar siarad Cymraeg yn ein dosbarth ni! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 We love speaking Welsh in our class! The children are really passionate about the language and the culture and thoroughly enjoy learning it. We have celebrated Dydd Santes Dwynwen and Dydd Gwyl Dewi this term. The children were amazing at singing and dancing on St David’s Day and performed their Welsh dance and song for the whole school! Proud! We have fabulous songs that we sing throughout the morning and the children absolutely love them!

We have had a mixture of our PE lessons indoor and outdoor this term with the main focus of developing gross motor skills. We have also been learning to balance on different parts of our body to develop the core strength which is the foundation of all skills. The children have enjoyed riding the balance bikes too, their confidence is improving so much! We have been building different obstacle courses inside and outside to build strength in upper body as well. We have some budding sports stars in our class!
As spring is upon us, we have used our Muddy Mondays to good use and have been planting bulbs and weeding our garden ready for the warmer weather! There’s nothing like fresh air on a Monday morning - the children love to explore and play.

We have celebrated Red Nose Day, Children’s Mental Health Day and something that’s special to me - St Patrick’s Day!! The video of the Irish dancing will be sure to raise a smile! ☘️

Easter has taken over the classroom the last two weeks! We have enjoyed making Easter crafts, designing eggs and cooking! All lead by the children! It’s been a special time! We finished off our term today with the most wonderful Easter bonnet parade! The children were real life super stars walking down the red carpet!! ✨ We also had a visit from the Easter bunny!🐰
Have a fantastic Easter holidays everyone! I look forward to seeing you all on two weeks for another super special term!! ❤️
