Spring 2024

Wow! This half term has flown by! We started our term with a goodbye as Miss. Parker completed her training with us. We loved having her as our teacher and wish her the best for the future.

Literacy

In literacy, we’ve studied how to write a recount text. We’ve done lots of work looking at past tense verbs, time connectives, text structure and what we need to include. We all wrote a recount text on how we planned (and eventually made!) our new wildlife friendly garden.

Numeracy

In our numeracy lessons, we’ve been learning about measures. We’ve learnt how to measure using millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres. We can convert between the different measures and know which is the most suitable unit to use. We also learnt how to measure the perimeter of different shapes. This came in very handy when we had to measure the perimeter of our garden to help with our design.

Topic

We’ve continued our topic, Gofal, this half term. We’ve carried out data research in the garden to find out how much wildlife already lives in it. Once we have created our garden, we’ll carry out this research again to see if we have made a difference in attracting more wildlife. We’ve also done some wildlife art work and fact files. We have found out the importance of looking after our own mental and physical help. We have thought about the things that are most important to us and how we can use these things to help us if we ever feel sad or upset. We also understand the importance of physical exercise. In Science, we’ve been learning at the digestive system and major organs in the human body. We carried out an investigation to find out if people with long legs can jump further than people with short legs. We found out that it doesn’t make a difference and it jumping technique plays an important part in how far people can jump. We also enjoyed Science week, particularly learning about Microbits!

St. David’s Day

We all enjoyed taking part in St. David’s Day and representing our houses. For our Eisteddfod, we had to do a poem, a song and a twmpath. Congratulations to Morlais for winning!

World Book Day

We all really enjoyed sharing our love of reading for World Book Day! Throughout the day, we all had the opportunity to read and relax in our classroom reading area. We were able to raise a lot of money towards buying new books for the class.
