Autumn 2023

Autumn Term 2.

Wow! What a busy half term we have had! We have had so much fun! It has been wonderful to see the children become so much more confident and chatty. Their little personalities are shining through and it’s wonderful to see!

We absolutely love our Muddy Mondays and have had great fun exploring the woodland. We have made some leaf sparklers, bonfires, stick men, mud hot chocolate! We might just get a little muddy too but we love it!

In our topic Cynefin we have been learning about people who help us in our community. We were so lucky to have  the emergency services come in to school to show and tell us how they help people when they need them. It was amazing. A big thank you to Ffion’s dad who brought the ambulance, the local PSCOs and the Fire Brigade from Gorseinon. The children were in awe of them all! They sure did inspire us all!!

We celebrated Remembrance Day with some poppy art and poppy building. We are extremely proud of the soldiers who fought for our country. We will remember them.

We had a fantastic Sharing the Learning event with our grown ups coming into school to look at our work. We worked with R/Yr1 and Yr 1/2 to create a model village of Penclawdd. It was amazing! Dosbarth Penguins had the job of creating their houses - we had incredible houses built! We then made models of the children to go with their houses! The model village was fabulous!

We have had a mixture of snack inside and outside this term with the dry weather. The children love to eat outside! We have little picnics!

In PE we have been practising moving across the floor in all different ways, running, skipping, hoping. We have also been practising throwing and catching. We have some budding sports stars in the Penguin class. Watch this space!

Well what can I say about “Our First Nativity” It was special! When I think back to the day I get goosebumps and all teary! I’m so proud of each and every one of the children for learning the songs, lines and dances. They performed with such confidence, I was over the moon! You all have really special children. As all stars party after a performance we had the “after party” with a few cakes and snacks. We even made star biscuits for our stars to enjoy! It really was a super special day!

December is such a special month in our Nursery classroom. We have put the decorations up, wrapped presents to go under the tree and to send off to Father Christmas. We have written letters to the North Pole telling Father Christmas that we have been good this year. We have learned some Christmas songs and will be singing them to our grown ups on the last day.

To finish the term off we had a magical trip to Gower Fresh Christmas Trees to see Father Christmas! Oh my, it was special! Roly Poly Elf was so helpful, taking us around the winter wonderland, feeding the reindeers and of course seeing the big man himself! It was a wonderful morning full of Christmas cheer!

Finally I would all like to wish all the children and their families a very Merry Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful time together - I can’t wait to hear all about it in the new year! Your support is invaluable to us - thank you! I’ll leave you with this little video of the children - it’s sure to raise a smile and some festive spirit! Nadolig Llawen a Blywyddyn Newydd Dda! 🎄🎅❤️

Autumn Term 1

WOW! What a term it’s been!! We have had the BEST time settling into our new class and making new friends! We learnt so much about each other with our All About Me bags - the children were fantastic at presenting them to the class! We found out so much about each other!

In Literacy we have been reading the work of Michael Rosen. We have loved reading We’re going on a Bear Hunt! We have competed a story map - the children were so excited about the story! We acted it out in the Forest - getting a little wet and muddy! Just like the story! It was fabulous to see the children so excited about a story and wanting to read it and act it out.

In Numeracy we have been busy bees!! Lots of counting, singing, making! We really enjoyed making our house out of 2d shapes! We had lots of great discussions about how different everyone’s houses are!

Topic

We have been extremely busy this term learning about Cynefin, especially about ourselves and our families. We have had lots of discussions about how each family is different and what makes us all unique. We are all very special people!
