Dear Parents/Carers,

Well… do we have some very exciting news for you ! We have been very busy in school planning the grand reveal of not just one , but TWO new areas !Firstly, our brand new library area is nearly ready to be opened. See below for an update.

And secondly, in a few weeks time our newly refurbished and redesigned kitchen will be unveiled. All will be revealed shortly! We can’t wait !!

This wonderful facility will be used by all classes / cooking club and also parents /carers/families as part of a community project run in collaboration with the Gower based charity `The Sharing Table` who work to support disadvantaged children and families in Gower and Swansea.

Andrew Copson Founder and Trustee at this organisation has been an incredible and integral support in the planning of this project and we`d like to thank the charity for the donations of the key appliances, crockery and utensils. We are looking forward to working with Andrew and The Sharing Table together with our families !

Harvest

Our Harvest Festival for R-Y6 will be held at Tabernacle Church on Thursday 26th October 10am. Parent`s/carer`s are welcome and will be seated upstairs.

This year we will be collecting tins/toiletries for the North Gower Food Hub.

Parents/children can bring items into school week commencing  23rd October.  Many thanks for your support.

Attendance  - LA Educational Welfare Officer - EWO

All schools’ attendance is now being closely monitored by the LA . Our EWO - Lyndsay Jenkins( Education Welfare Officer) who visits our cluster schools every 3 weeks will look at lateness , persistent absences and holiday requests. Pre Covid our attendance was excellent and was 95%. In 2022-23 it was 93.4%. Our attendance target this year is 94% and the LA monitor this closely. Please make every effort to not take holidays during term time to ensure your child does not miss important learning time .

Don’t be Late Through the Gate!

We are sadly seeing a rise in some children being late for school every day.

School starts at 8.50 am. Being late on a regular basis adds up to a loss of learning time. Please make every effort for your child to be on time.

  • 5 Mins late every day   = 3.4 days of learning lost every year
  • 10 mins late every day =6.9 days of learning lost every year
  • 15 mins late every day = 10.3 days of learning lost every year
  • 20 mins late every day =13.8 days of learning lost every year
  • 30 mins late every day =20.7 days of learning lost every day
