Headteacher's Blog

Dear Parents and Carers,

Half term is almost upon us and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to a well deserved break.  The children and staff have worked very hard this half term and I'm very proud of them.  Fingers crossed that we have a dry weather and children can get out and about and enjoy the autumnal weather.

Harvest Collection Thank you to everyone who donated to our Harvest Collection.  (picture below)  The food will be donated to Matthew's House and the North Gower Food Hwb as voted for by the children.  Even when times are very hard we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our parents/carers. A huge thank you.

The service at Tabernacle on 27th October was a huge success. The children sang beautifully and received many compliments. The children listened carefully to the kind and thoughtful words spoken by Stuart.

Attendance / Lateness

We need to maintain good attendance.  Please ensure that your child attends school regularly. If there is a reason for non attendance it is vital that you ring the office, leave a message or contact us via the website contact us form.

We have noticed that we have children who are regularly late.  This impacts on their learning but is also disruptive to the class teacher and office staff. Please, please do your best to leave 5 minutes early and arrive before 8.50am.  Good time keeping is a valuable life lesson!

Octoberfest

Many thanks for Mrs. Garcia and the Friends of Penclawdd who helped make the disco a huge success. They worked tirelessly serving hotdogs and drinks. The decorations were lovely and the children enjoyed seeing the carved pumpkins displayed around the playground. The children looked fabulous in their costumes and Mrs. Garcia as DJ did a great job.  Congratulations to children whose pumpkins were chosen for prizes. We raised over £250! Well done.

Breakfast Club

Please note that the final entry into Breakfast Club is at 8.30am. After this the door will be closed. If you are a few minutes late, please ring the intercom or bring your child around to the Main Reception Office. Please remember that your child is to be dropped at the door and that parents cannot bring them down into the hall. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

Roy`s annual `guess the weight` of the pumpkin - prize a beautiful white pumpkin

The winner of the White Pumpkin was Rory in Reception. His answer was spot on at 16.5kg.  Well done Rory.  He will take home the pumpkin for his family to enjoy.

ESTYN

As you are aware the Estyn Inspection will take place after half term. We are excited and maybe a little nervous to have important visitors in our school. We are very proud of our wonderful children and know that they will shine during this week.

Parents will have the opportunity to meet with inspectors on Monday 7th November in the hall at 3.45pm.  If you need childcare please let Mrs. Beynon know as have a provision for this.
