End of 2022-2023 HT Blog

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we come to the end of another extraordinary school year at Penclawdd Primary, I reflect back with immense pride on yet another incredible year. I am so proud to lead such a happy and successful school which delivers an excellent education for all our pupils. I remain astounded by how much we have achieved together in my 5 years as Headteacher of Penclawdd Primary School as a result of the strong relationships that exist here amongst staff, governors, parents , pupils and our community. I love being the Headteacher at Penclawdd Primary School and as such, I remain committed to secure the very best possible outcomes and successes in all that we do.

What an incredibly successful year 2022-2023 has been!  I obviously can`t end this year without making a reference to our recent Estyn Inspection in November 2022. We are all absolutely thrilled with the findings of the inspectors who agreed that Penclawdd is a superb school. The outstanding findings of our report are testament to all the hard work, dedication and commitment of our wonderful staff, pupils and Governing Body and the support from YOU our parents and school community.

In the words of Estyn in 2023

"All the staff at Penclawdd Primary School work hard to ensure that the school is a thoughtful and inclusive environment. This inclusivity is shown by the positive relationships between staff and pupils. The care, support and guidance provided across the school community is exceptional and supports the school’s vision, to ‘bring out the best in each other’.

Along with the support of school leaders and governors, the Headteacher has developed an enthusiastic team of professionals that have a strong understanding of the needs of the pupils and the local community. Partnerships with parents are exceptional and the school has earned their trust, particularly when deciding the right approaches to adopt so that their children can thrive."

To ALL our staff – you are all brilliant. We are truly blessed with a wonderful staff team who are committed to ensuring every child has the best school experiences. Thank you for your hard work and dedication and for always going the extra mile to make Penclawdd Primary School the best! You have been absolute stars each and every day.

To our parents/guardians, grandparents, family members and friends  – thank you for supporting and encouraging us to ensure we give your children such amazing opportunities to `be the best they can be` every day.

To our Friends of Penclawdd - I would like to thank the Friends of Penclawdd Primary who have been working hard to raise funds to create extra opportunities for our children. We are so grateful.

To our children – You have all been fantastic! You make our school a truly remarkable place full of energy, smiles, laughter, kindness, excitement, tears and and most of all love. You have worked hard and you expected the very best of yourselves every day and I am so proud of you all.

Farewell to our fantastic Year 6 pupils as you leave us to start the next chapter of your educational journey in Secondary School.

So, it only now leaves me to say all your support has been overwhelming and has driven me personally to ensure that we are in the place that we find ourselves today.

I wish you all a very happy summer holiday break no matter what adventures you are going on!

See you all on Tuesday September 5th.
