Spring 2 2026

We’ve had an amazing Spring term in Year 3/4!

Literacy

This half term, we’ve focused on instruction writing. We’ve looked at a lot of examples of instructions and identified the key features of this type of text. We then create our own set of instructions for keeping healthy and looking after our well-being.

Numeracy

In our Numeracy lessons, we’ve continued our work on measures by calculating the perimeter of polygons. We know that we need to measure around the outside of a shape. We’ve also learnt about area. We applied our knowledge of calculating area to our topic work. We’ve just started a new topic looking at fractions. We can already identify different fractions, count in fractions and have started to add and subtract them.

Science and Technology

This half term, we’ve been learning about the major organs in the human body. We are able to locate where they are and explain their main functions.

In our digital lessons, we’ve learned how to code Microbits. We worked with Techno Camps to create a light sensor that went off when there was enough light in a room, or come on when the room went dark. We also created feelings badges. We had to code the individual LEDs to create a smiley or sad face that could be controlled by pressing different buttons.

Expressive Arts

We have created self portraits. We had to make sure that we drew our facial features in proportion. We also developed shading skills using pastels.

We also composed some calming music for our Health Resorts. We listened to examples of relaxation music, identified the instruments we may need and then created our own music in a group.

Health and Well-being

We have loved continuing our swimming lessons and getting more confident in the water! We have also continued to develop our dance choreography by incorporating a variety of shapes, movements and balance.

Our topic Gofal has focused on looking after our own health and well-being. We have done lots of work to teach us the importance of looking after ourselves. We also created our own health spa using the skills we have developed throughout the term. We loved sharing these with our grownups.

Events

We all worked hard to help our teams compete in our School Eisteddfod. We took part in singing, poetry performances and dancing. Llongyfarchiadau to Cenydd on winning the Eisteddfod!

We’re looking forward to an exciting Summer term.
