Literacy
This term, our literacy lessons were all about the film Inside Out! We watched the movie and studied all the characters and their emotions. Then we invented our own new emotion, which was really fun because we got to pick colours, shapes and even faces.
We used similes and metaphors to describe our emotions and turned them into poems. Some of the poems were funny, some were dramatic, all of them were amazing!
We also had a debate about our school disco from the point of view of Joy and Sadness. Joy thought everything would be sparkly and that the music would be amazing but Sadness thought someone might be too loud or that we might drop our sweets!

Numeracy
In Maths we’ve learnt how to do column method multiplication and division, and now we can multiply and divide really BIG numbers.
We’ve also started learning all about measures, so now we can measure things in millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm), and metres (m). We measured loads of objects around the classroom and our yard.

Science and Technology
We did a really fun investigation to find out whether people with long legs can jump further than people with short legs. We measured everyone’s legs and then did lots of jumps outside. After all the testing, we discovered that it doesn’t actually matter how long your legs are — it’s all about technique! So anyone can be a great jumper if they practise.

In our digital lessons, we’ve learnt how to add data to a spreadsheet. We also know how to use a formula to find totals, sort data into order and make a suitable graph!
We also learnt about food groups and why it’s important to eat a balanced diet.
One of the BEST parts was going on a trip to Big Meadow Farm where we found out where our food comes from and how people grow things sustainably. We got to harvest and cook some vegetables. We had a great time, even though there was SO much mud.

Health and Well-being
Our topic is called Gofal, which is all about looking after ourselves and the environment.
We talked about our personal qualities and what makes each of us special (turns out we’re all special in different ways, which is awesome).
We also learnt how to stay healthy both physically and mentally — like exercising, talking about our feelings, spending time outside, and being kind to ourselves.

We have some really exciting plans for next half term-stay tuned!
