Croeso - Welcome

Mrs L Reynolds-Milnes

Welcome to Penclawdd Primary School

I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of Penclawdd Primary School, where I lead a dedicated and enthusiastic team of professionals who consistently place the needs and wellbeing of our children at the heart of everything we do.

At Penclawdd, we strive to provide the highest standards of education and support for every child. Our curriculum is rich, authentic, and engaging—designed to balance knowledge and skills while nurturing curiosity, independence, and resilience. The wellbeing of our pupils is central to our approach, and this commitment was strongly recognised in our Estyn Core Inspection (2022), which praised our inclusive ethos, strong leadership, and the exceptional care, support and guidance we provide.

Our Interim Visit (2024) highlighted the significant progress we’ve made in developing our outdoor learning environment, particularly for younger pupils. Inspectors commended our reflective leadership, purposeful professional learning, and the way our staff skilfully enhance outdoor spaces to foster independence and environmental awareness.

We were delighted to be selected for Estyn’s Thematic Review of Teaching and Learning (2025)—one of only 15 primary schools across Wales chosen to showcase effective practice in delivering the Curriculum for Wales. This recognition reflects our innovative approach to pedagogy, our use of authentic learning contexts, and our commitment to professional collaboration and continuous improvement.

Penclawdd Primary is a vibrant, welcoming school at the heart of the village community. Our children are happy, confident, and inspired to “be the best they can be.” We value strong partnerships between home and school, built on mutual respect and shared aspirations. Together, we celebrate every child’s success and support their journey through a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Choosing the right school is a vital decision. We want every child to feel safe, happy, and secure—and to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. If you are considering Penclawdd Primary School for your child, we warmly invite you to visit and experience our school in action. Please contact the office to arrange a tour.

I look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly at the school.

Warm regards,
Louisa Reynolds-Milnes
