Summer 1.
Well, this half-term has whizzed by in a flash!! We have spent a lot of our time outside, which has been wonderful! We have enjoyed exploring our new Banc Bach area, which is inspired by the local businesses we have here in our catchment area! The children had a fabulous time in the Crofty shop, the doctors and, of course, Gower Timber! It has been so exciting! The children have thoroughly enjoyed the role play – we certainly have some future doctors and construction managers in our class!!

Whilst we have been enjoying ourselves outside, inside the classroom has been just as busy!! We completed an art project that was displayed in our school art gallery exhibition. The children painted self-portraits! They were incredible – if a little hilarious! How the children see themselves and the world around them is truly magic! The level of detail was second to none – the hairstyles, lips and eyes were all so accurate! All the finished pieces certainly raised many smiles!

Each morning the children choose their activities and the classroom is always a hive of busy bees! The children are becoming so much more independent. All areas of the classroom are busy – from writing a prescription at the doctor's surgery, to constructing a sanctuary for animals to designing a butterfly to making a friendship bracelet. No two days are the same, but the children are totally immersed in their provision.

We have also had great interest in handwriting this half term!! The whiteboards have been very busy! It’s been wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic about writing. They are also so keen to show everyone their work and can explain and annotate their writing! Arbennig!

Our favourite day of the year is fast approaching – Sports Day!! WOW! We have some speedy athletes in the Penguins!! It has been so much fun to practise outside on the lawn! The children have been supporting each other, clapping and cheering during the races. The improvement in the children’s gross motor skills is fantastic – not to mention their confidence and self-belief!

Another favourite day of ours in our planting day with the other classes in Progression steps 1 and 2. A huge thank you to all our families for the donations. We had a super morning – weeding, cleaning, planting, watering – you name it, it was happening. It was wonderful to see the collaboration between the older and younger learners too – they were so patient and kind to the Penguins! We now have the very important job of keeping the plants alive and well and the garden looking clean and tidy!

This is just a little snippet of how busy we are!! We absolutely love our mornings together! I cannot believe we only have one more half term together! Have a fabulous break, we can't wait to hear all about it!! Diolch!!
