Well, croeso nol i Ddosbarth Pengwiniaid!! The first half term has absolutely flown by and we have had the best time getting back into the swing of things and welcoming new little Penguins!

It has been a busy time!! Here is a little snippet into what we have been getting up the last few weeks –
There is a lot of interest in handwriting, drawing and creating! We have numerous letters, lists, cards and pictures daily! Our Proud Cloud is full already!! We know that to make great handwriters, we need to build up the fine motor muscles in our tiny little hands! We always have activities on hand for this – pinching, pouring and scooping along with pushing and pulling.
The children love Dough Disco too which is a wonderful way to build up the hand muscles – with a little boogie of course!
We have begun our Phonics journey too with lots of sound walks and games that help the children to identify environmental sounds. Some children are phonic ready and are learning the “s” sound!!

We have incredible problem solvers and engineers amongst us! The construction area is always full with children building houses or farms or schools. The magnetic tiles are a huge hit too. We have had lots of rich language surrounding these activities about size, weight and height.
The jigsaws are also very popular with children spending time to complete a whole one independently! Amazing!
We absolutely love learning about numbers through songs and we are getting very good at counting now too!

We love to be fit and healthy! Our PE sessions are super fun with lots of running, climbing and jumping. The children have begun to create their own obstacle courses and they are so excited!

We also love to be outside, which also helps to keep a healthy mind. We enjoy potion making, obstacle making, driving cars and bikes and even the hula-hoops! We always come in with big smiles on our faces! Every Monday morning, we have our puddle suits and wellies on and we are out exploring!! We have so much fun bug hunting, potion making or in the mud kitchen. The opportunities are endless and we love it! The children are almost all independent and getting changed too!! Super proud!

Well, what can I say – we have a talented Penguins class! We definitely have some designers in the making – the masterpieces that the children make daily are incredible! And mostly independent too! We have had incredible rockets, handbags, bats, space pictures. You name it, we have had it! I love how the children are able to allow their own interests to lead their learning – it makes such a difference!!

We have also been singing and dancing all term!! Irish dancing is very popular – as always!! The children ask for daily music so that they can practise! We also have been practising our Harvest songs and actions - the children are amazing!
We have celebrated Shwmae Day, Mental Health Day and Halloween / Harvest this term too! It has been super busy but we have loved every minute of it!!

Have a fabulous half term – we can't wait to hear all about it!!
