Literacy

This term we have been studying the novel 'The Secret Garden' by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

We have been completing literacy activities evolving from this novel. We have described the Secret Garden using figurative language like personification, similes and onomatopoeia and learnt about the story setting and the development of Mary Lennox's character and how it has changed since arriving in Misselthwaite Manor. We enjoyed writing scripts to show Mary's first meeting with her uncle and getting in the role of interviewing a new nanny for Mary. We have written our Manifesto's and presented them to the class, and we even voted to see who our class minister would be.  

 

 

 

Maths and Numeracy

We have been learning all about data and statistics this term and collected our own data and represented our information in line graphs, Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams. We have also been learning about shape, angles and co-ordinates. We have been learning all about angles, shape, position and movement and have identified different angles in our school environment.

Science

This term we learnt about the life cycles of a honey bee, mason bee, birds and a butterflies and compared their life cycles. We have also learnt about old age and the timeline of our lives as humans.

Expressive Arts

We have really enjoyed producing our own episodes of Gardener’s World this term. In our groups, we allocated roles like director, producer, presenter, costume designer and camera person and created our episodes. We chose the music and used i movie to create our episodes. We enjoyed looking and listening to different genres  of music and discussing what emotions they provided. We even created our own dances for these music genres.

Health and Well-being

We have had a very enjoyable school sports day and had the opportunity to compete in our houses in the sprints, egg and spoon and sack races.Members of our class also represented the school in the NGP athletics championships and were very successful. We also took part in the beach rugby tournament, it was a great experience.
