☀️A Wonderful Start to the Summer Term☀️
It has been a lovely, sunny and warm return to school, and the Summer term is already off to a fantastic start. Already, we've felt the vibrant buzz of new learning across the school! Our Flamingos and Sea Lions launched their Carnival topic in true celebration style—by inviting parents and carers to a fantastic live event filled with colourful fun. With Zumba, drumming, dancing, and plenty of energy, it was a joyful and memorable way to kick off their learning journey.
Further up the school, our classes have jumped into history with great enthusiasm. The Polar Bears are uncovering the wonders of Ancient Egypt and recently visited the Egyptian Centre to deepen their understanding. The Sharks are exploring the lives of the Celts, while the Starfish are stepping into the world of the Tudors. Year 5 and 6 are also looking forward to an exciting trip to St Fagans, where they’ll bring their learning to life in an immersive and engaging way.
It’s been a fantastic start to the summer term—full of curiosity, creativity, and a real sense of adventure in learning!
Sun Safety ☀️
As the warmer weather continues, we’d like to remind families that Penclawdd is a Sun Safety School.
Let’s stay sun safe this week!
☀️ Don’t forget your hat 🧢, a full water bottle 💧, and suncream 🧴 before school.
Even on cooler days, UV rays can still cause harm—so let’s protect our skin and enjoy the outdoors safely! 🌿
Thank you for helping us promote healthy habits and keep everyone safe in the sun.
Foundation Phase Carnival Fun
Our Foundation Phase children are learning all about carnivals this term. This week, they hosted a colourful and energetic shared learning carnival event with parents. We were fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather, allowing activities like Zumba and drumming to take place outside – a joyful and memorable experience for all involved. Click here
Nursery Welcome and Admissions
Mrs Thomas and the Nursery staff recently welcomed new parents into school to visit our Nursery setting and meet the team. If you were unable to attend and your child is approaching their third birthday, please feel free to contact the school office to arrange a visit. Nursery application forms can be found here: Nursery admission forms
Penclawdd School Choir
Our fantastic school choir has begun rehearsals for their much-anticipated performance at Swansea Grand Theatre on Friday 20th June. Tickets can be purchased online via the Swansea Grand Theatre website. This annual event is a highlight for many, with staff, families and friends attending in previous years to show their support. It’s always a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our choir and staff. Ticket link: here
After-School Clubs
Our new programme of after-school clubs is now underway and proving to be a big hit with pupils. Clubs will continue to run until the week commencing Monday 16th June.

We also had a wonderful day commemorating VE Day. Our community Commemoration and Celebration event was a great success, with the children proudly entertaining guests. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the event, including Marks and Spencer, Motley Pie, Cwtch, Jenkins Bakery, GG’s, and Penclawdd Pharmacy. The day ended with a delightful afternoon tea picnic for the children – a perfect way to round off the celebrations. Click here
Tesco Blue Token Appeal – Thank You!
We are absolutely delighted to share that we’ve won the Tesco Blue Token appeal!
