What a spectacular day our School Eisteddfod 2026 turned out to be -full of passion, pride and a real sense of cariad running through our school.
This year’s Welsh theme, “Cariad” (Love
), inspired an incredible range of entries across our inโhouse competitions. We were blown away by the quality, creativity and effort shown in singing, recitals, dance, artwork, handwriting and even Welsh cakes! Every performance and piece truly celebrated a love of Wales, language and culture.
A huge diolch to our fantastic Criw Cymraeg, whose hard work helped organise and promote the competitions and ensured the Eisteddfod spirit was felt across the school.
Thank you also to all our staff, who supported, encouraged and celebrated the children every step of the way.
We are incredibly grateful to our parents and families for supporting the home learning and competition entries — your encouragement makes such a difference and was clearly reflected in the pride our pupils took in their work.
A very special thank you goes to our three wonderful judges - Katie from Cariad, Mrs Settle, our Welsh Language Governor, and Hari’s mam. What a difficult job you had judging such highโquality entries — diolch yn fawr for giving your time and expertise.
And finally, llongyfarchiadau mawr to Cennydd, our House Winners 2026! ![]()

What a fantastic achievement — well done to everyone who contributed points through their hard work and creativity.
Most of all, we are so proud of our pupils. They embraced the theme of cariad wholeheartedly, reminding us that love for our language, our culture, our school and one another lies at the heart of everything we do.
An Unforgettable Adventure at Gwersyll yr Urdd Llangrannog
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have had the time of their lives at Gwersyll yr Urdd Llangrannog! ๐๏ธโจ From finding their balance on the ski slopes and racing around the goโkart track, to hitting bullseyes in archery and enjoying horse riding through the beautiful grounds, it has been an actionโpacked experience full of challenge and excitement. ๐น๐
The children embraced every activity with enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork, and were fantastic ambassadors for our school throughout the visit — creating memories that will stay with them for years to come. ๐
A huge thank you to Mrs Percival, Mr Miller and Mr Culpin for giving up time with their own families to lead and support this unforgettable adventure. Your commitment and care made this experience truly special.
The Great Penclawdd Bedtime Read – Celebrating Our Readers!

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we loved taking part in The Great Penclawdd Bedtime Read — a wonderful challenge encouraging children to enjoy cosy reading time at home each evening.
A huge llongyfarchiadau to our class winners, who carefully kept a record of the minutes they spent reading throughout the week. Their commitment, enthusiasm and love of books truly shone through. ![]()

โ -a special space full of stories just waiting to be discovered.
It’s been fantastic to see such enthusiasm for reading, and we’re so proud of everyone who took part. Every minute really did count — and every story shared helped build a love of reading that will last a lifetime.
๐ Friends of Penclawdd
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing Friends of Penclawdd for their continued support and generosity. Their recent fundraising efforts have enabled us to purchase brandโnew chairs for our Reception/Year 1 classroom, completing the rollout of new seating across the whole school. The fresh, bright chairs have made a huge improvement to the appearance and feel of our learning spaces, and the children are absolutely delighted with them.
FoP have also kindly funded role-play resources for Banc Bach, helping us further enhance our provision for our youngest learners.
(Watch this space for updates as these arrive!)
We are incredibly grateful for everything Friends of Penclawdd do to enrich the experiences of our pupils and to support our school community.

Celebrating St David’s Day Together

Members of our school choir had a truly lovely time visiting Cuppa Club and Tabernacle Toddlers to share songs in celebration of St David’s Day. Taking our music out into the community and singing together was a special experience for everyone involved. We especially loved joining in clap clap 123 with the toddlers and Mrs D loved dancing !
We absolutely loved meeting you all , sharing the joy of music and celebrating our Welsh culture together. Diolch yn fawr for the warm welcome and the kind invitations — we really hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Moments like these remind us just how powerful music can be in bringing people together across generations. ![]()
