Activity 1 – Writing Task

Funni made a secret garden where she felt she belonged. 

• Draw a picture of your own special place. 

• Write 2–3 sentences to describe it. 

• Use adjectives like quiet, colourful, safe. 

In the story, Funni made a place for people to come together. 

• Write 4–5 sentences about a place in your own community where people meet (park, beach, football field, chapel). 

• Use at least 3 adjectives. 

• Challenge: Explain why this place is important for your community. 

Activity 2 – Oracy Task

Pretend you are Funni. A friend asks: “Why did you make the garden?” 

• Practise answering in a clear voice. 

• Now add: “How does the garden make you feel?” 

• Practise both roles with a partner at home. 

Imagine you are interviewing Funni. 

• Write 3 questions you would ask her (e.g. “What do you like about the garden?”). 

• Practise saying the questions aloud. 

• Pretend to be Funni and answer them using feelings words (happy, proud, excited).
