Summer 2025
The summer term was soooooo busy! Our topic was Roses and Royals and we learnt about the Tudors but we also did so much move! With World Mental Health Week, VE Day, a grant from the Gower society and leavers, we did not stop! But we certainly had fun in our final term in Year 6!
We started the term with a fab trip to St.Fagan's. We asked the question - Pwy sy'n byw mewn ty fel hyn? Who lives in a house like this? We explored the houses and looked for clues to see if we could guess what kind of person or family lived in that house.
We also celebrated VE Day by welcoming the community into Penclawdd by hosting a concert and afternoon tea. It was such a special occasion and the Senedd thoroughly enjoyed hosting.
World Mental Health Week was also lots of fun and we learnt so much about mental health. We focussed on the importance of looking after our mental health and embedded the five ways to well-being - connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give. We ended the week by taking part in the ice bucket challenge to raise awareness of the importance of prioritising your mental health.
We enjoyed using the outdoors to learn about the Tudors - we re-enacted the War of the Roses and created our own Tudor Rose.
Our leavers day was a great success. We visited Llanelli Leisure Centre for an action-packed morning, Pembrey for a chilled afternoon and spent the evening in school making s'mores, singing, dancing and getting soaked in our legendary leavers water fight!
We ended with the best visit to Moorlakes Scout Camp with Dawn from Nature Days. We were really lucky and grateful to receive a grant from the Gower Society to fund the visit. We made shelters, built fires and toasted marshmallows! Despite the very heavy rain, we had a fab time learning survival skills on our Explorer Day!
We ended the term with our leavers assembly - it was so much fun and we shed a few tears. Here is our leavers video that we shared with the school and our parents and carers on the day.
Wishing the amazing class of 2025 the very best future as they move to Gowerton! Pob Lwc!
