Head Teacher News- 9th October 2026

Our Polar Bears LOVED the Harry Potter Studios
Dear Parents and Carers,
π Our learning adventures continue! π
The excitement has continued across PPS as several classes headed out on their much-anticipated hook visits, launching their new topics in memorable and inspiring ways. These carefully chosen experiences are designed to spark curiosity, ignite imaginations and provide real-life contexts for learning. From castles and culture to wildlife and wizardry, our pupils have already created incredible memories and have returned to school full of questions, ideas and enthusiasm for the learning ahead.
πΏπ¦β¨ Discovering the wonders on our doorstep! β¨π¦πΏ
Our #PencSharks enjoyed an exciting visit to the Llanelli Wetland Centre as part of their topic, “On Our Doorstep.”
The children spent the day exploring one of the area's most beautiful natural environments, discovering the incredible wildlife, habitats and ecosystems that exist right here on our doorstep. From observing birds and wetland creatures to learning about conservation and the importance of protecting our environment, every moment sparked curiosity and wonder.
The visit encouraged pupils to look at their local area through new eyes, helping them develop a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences, inspiring our young learners to become passionate guardians of the world around them.
A truly memorable day of exploration, discovery and outdoor learning. ππ
πβπβ¨ Celebrating Penclawdd and Me! β¨πβπ
Our #PencFlamingos had a wonderful day exploring everything that makes Penclawdd such a special place as part of their topic, “Penclawdd and Me.”
The adventure began with a village walk, where pupils explored familiar landmarks and developed their understanding of the community they proudly call home. The children then enjoyed time playing in the park alongside our beautiful estuary, taking in the stunning views and experiencing first-hand the unique environment that makes Penclawdd so special.
The highlight of the day was a visit to our local café, Cariad, where the children took part in a fantastic pizza-making workshop. Not only did they learn new skills, but they also experienced the warmth and generosity of a local business that sits at the heart of our community. A huge thanks to Katie and Tom - click here...
Through play, exploration and hands-on experiences, the children celebrated their sense of belonging and discovered just how much there is to be proud of in the place they call home. β€οΈ
β‘πͺβ¨ Stepping into an enchanted world of potions and spells! β¨πͺβ‘
Our #PencPolarBears embarked on a truly magical adventure to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter as part of their topic, “The Enchanted World of Potions and Spells.”
From the moment they arrived, pupils were transported into a world of imagination, creativity and wonder. Exploring iconic sets, discovering the secrets behind special effects and seeing costumes, props and magical artefacts up close brought their learning vividly to life.
The experience ignited curiosity and inspired creativity as children immersed themselves in the storytelling, design and craftsmanship behind one of the world's most beloved series. Whether exploring Diagon Alley, marvelling at the Great Hall or uncovering the mysteries of potion-making, there was excitement around every corner.
This unforgettable experience provided the perfect launch to the topic, capturing imaginations and encouraging pupils to think, create and dream big. A truly magical day that will be remembered for years to come! β¨β‘π°πͺ
These visits are wonderful examples of our rich, authentic curriculum, where learning begins with memorable experiences that inspire curiosity, deepen understanding and create a genuine love of learning. πππ
