Fun in the sun down in Port Eynon!

β˜€οΈ A Week of Sunshine at PPS

What a wonderful week we’ve enjoyed at Penclawdd Primary School-filled with sunshine, smiles and some truly memorable learning experiences.

🚴 Year 6 Cycling Proficiency
Our Year 6 pupils took part in their Cycling Proficiency sessions and were an absolute credit to the school. The feedback from instructors was fantastic – they commented on the children’s strong basic cycling skills, positive attitudes and excellent behaviour throughout. We are incredibly proud to share that there was a 100% pass rate for Level 1, with all pupils progressing on to Level 2. A brilliant achievement – well done, Year 6!

🌱 Planting Week – Nursery to Year 2
Down in our woodland area, our youngest learners have been busy getting their hands muddy during Planting Week. It has been wonderful to see the children exploring, planting and learning about the natural world.
A huge thank you to our parents and local community for your generous donations of plants and resources – it really has made a difference and helped bring this experience to life for our children.

πŸ–οΈ Rec–Y2 Visit to Port Eynon – Learning on Our Doorstep
Exploring one of Gower’s beautiful beaches, our pupils experienced first‑hand what it means to learn within an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are so lucky to call this place home. πŸ’›

Our visit to Port Eynon Beach was so much more than a trip—it was a chance to play, explore, wonder and simply pause to take in the world around us. From investigating the natural environment to sharing joyful moments together, every part of the day sparked curiosity and inspired thinking.

This experience provided the perfect launch into our new topic, grounding learning in something real, meaningful and right on our doorstep. We cannot wait to build on this in the weeks ahead. 🌊🌿

And honestly… if anyone is in need of a little boost—this was pure joy in action!

πŸ’› Supporting Wellbeing at PPS – Meet Our ELSA

At Penclawdd Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and ready to learn. A key part of this is the invaluable work of our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA), Mrs K. Thomas.

Mrs Thomas works closely with children to support their emotional wellbeing and social communication, helping them to understand their feelings, build confidence and develop positive relationships. Through tailored sessions and a nurturing approach, she provides pupils with strategies to manage worries, navigate friendships and cope with life’s ups and downs.

Her role also extends to supporting children who may find communication and social interaction more challenging, helping them to develop the skills they need to feel confident and included in all aspects of school life.

Beyond her work with pupils, Mrs Thomas is also there to support families—offering guidance, reassurance and a listening ear when needed.

At PPS, we know that wellbeing sits at the heart of learning, and through the dedicated work of Mrs Thomas, we continue to ensure that every child feels valued, understood and able to thrive.

If you would like to find out more about our ELSA provision, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

❀️ A Little Love from Our Penclawdd Community ❀️

🎨✨A celebration of creativity, community and talent ✨🎨

What an incredible event it has been! We are so proud to have welcomed such a wonderful mix of local community artists, family and friend artists, past pupils and, of course, our talented current pupils to share in this very special exhibition.

The standard of artwork on display was truly outstanding, and it was heartwarming to hear such fantastic feedback throughout the event:

πŸ’¬ “So much excellent work by so many!”

πŸ’¬ “So well organised and beautifully displayed.

πŸ’¬ “An absolute pleasure to attend and support.”

Moments like these remind us just how strong, creative and connected our community is.

A huge thank you to The Cwtch for their generous donation of the most delicious brownies -they were a big hit! 🍫✨

And to our wonderful FoP team, thank you for giving your time to prepare and serve such lovely refreshments 🍒. Your support helps make events like this so special.

To every artist, every visitor and everyone who supported -diolch from the bottom of our hearts. β€οΈπŸ–€
